Artist's Description
This fuschia flower was created using a vivid ink and the background was creatied using tinted charcoal. Tinted charcoal is similar to pastels in that it has color but it is muted by the burning of the wood before adding the color pigments. It leaves very textured marks which I find pleasing.
About Malinda Kopec
I am a mixed media artist and jewelry designer. I also create some home decor every now and then. Admittedly I'm all over the board but I have to DO what moves me in the MOMENT! I just can't say "I'm an artist and I need to do mixed media today" I wake up and say "Hmmmm, what do I feel like creating today?" I do love to paint abstracts and stylized portraits as much as I love creating Swarovski crysal drop earrings or an Egyptian style choker. I live with my fun and witty husband Joe, and two cats and a dog in Michigan where I spent my childhood growing up. I feel lucky to have grown up in 'the country' where playing allowed our imaginations to grow wild! My creativity bloomed when playing 'camp' when we would make little homes outside...
